Well, I feel like I've done quite a bit the past few days, and blogging ins't one of them. However, I am preparing for a nice weekend at Penn State University this weekend. Funny relation there....I was in the Google Online Marketing Challenge which our team, the Six Amigos (even though there were four of us) came in 13th in the AMERICAS. Pretty cool when there were around 1600 teams, and probably just under 2/3 of them were based in the Americas. Well, the team that won the Americas group is based out of Penn State University...perhaps I'll go pop in on the professor and congratulate him.
I will eventually catch up on my blogging. I swear. I have all the ideas in my head--I just need to put them on "paper"
And so my great summer trip..........BEGINS!!!!

Online Challenge Day 1
So, things were a bit tricky today. Dumb me, I didn't activate my campaign ads until around 10am. Seeing as that my particular campaign in this group is for Commercial Staging. Be that as Real Estate Sales or perhaps corporate housing furnishing projects. Maybe residential people that want to "stage" their home like on HGTV or other channels and sell the house.
Anyway, the corporate folks are only at work from 7am-6pm--so I missed out on some times.
Anyway, our campaigns did fairly well. We only spent $3.10 today. But, we had roughly 14,000 impressions, but only 18 clicks. The good news...we're learning. Next, we will need to help the webmaster optimize the website. Hopefully the skills taught to us by our expert professor, James Moore, will be used on a very short-term basis and we can get the website optimized, the website optimized, and higher on the results list.

holy jebus Google
As some of my readers know, I'm am doing a Google Online Challenge in an Internet Marketing Course. This involves finding an online business without a current AdWords campaign and trying to increase their business using AdWords.
The strategy portion of this challenge is above and beyond difficult with only $200 for 4 weeks. Can't Google just open up the limit and make it higher? I understand the reasoning...if we can create extra money for our customer--they will just continue to use AdWords with their small budgets. However, if we really drive up the revenue for a company we may expand their business to the point that they can spend $1000/month on AdWords. Ok, rant over.
I think our group as a whole is learning a ton about AdWords--and really marketing on the internet using Google and keywords. Which is a good thing.
